It’s a fact, the state is considering turning over the Department of Corrections to an outside for-profit company in an attempt to save money. There are four companies hoping to get the business of the state of New Hampshire and they have all outlined their plans for running our prison system with one thing in mind, ‘to make a profit.’
The next step in this prison saga is to bring in someone to review the proposals that have been submitted, and that is about to happen.
The Governor and Council will be selecting a person or firm who has answered the RFP to review all four proposals and come up with a recommendation.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 11th at 10 a.m. at the Christa McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center, Concord. Executive Council meetings are open to the public and we would encourage anyone who can, to attend.
