Donations Still Welcome to Fundraiser for His Son’s Education
We’re sad to report that Rick Grass, an SEA member and information technology worker at CCSNH, has passed away. After Rick found out he had terminal cancer, he wanted to make sure his son had access to something that transformed Rick’s life: a college education. So, Rick’s friends set out to raise money for that cause, setting up a fundraiser at GiveForward.com.
On Wednesday morning, the fundraiser organizers, Bernie Keenan and Bill Beyer, sent out this update:
I am sorry to say Rick Grass passed away last night (Tuesday, 1/28).
At Rick’s request there will not be a funeral. However, Rick’s family and close friends will be planning a celebration of his life at a later time. We will let everyone know when that will occur. Also, in lieu of flowers or cards please consider a donation to Rick’s Wish fundraiser.
Rick’s hope was that everyone not be sad about his passing but happy for the life he had and especially for that part of his life he was able to share with all of us.
As of this writing, the fundraiser had collected $9,005 of its $15,000 goal. Even if you didn’t know him, we hope you’ll consider helping your union brother by making a donation. Rest in peace, Rick.
