Act Fast if You Need Health Coverage

Open Enrollment for ACA Marketplace Closes March 31

If you or someone you know wants to get health insurance through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace, you’ll need to act fast: the open enrollment period closes on March 31.

That is the last day you can get coverage for this year; there will be another open enrollment period later this year to get coverage for 2015. If you’ve been putting off getting coverage for this year, now is the time to act. You may even qualify for money-saving subsidies.

You can get help signing up in a few different ways: at one of two events coming up or at the SEA/SEIU Local 1984 office. Either way, you’ll get one-on-one help from a certified application counselor.

The two upcoming events are scheduled in Plymouth and Concord:

Plymouth: Wednesday, March 12 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Pease Public Library (downstairs conference room), 1 Russell St., Plymouth. This is sponsored by the Plymouth State Teaching Lecturers and SEA/SEIU Local 1984.

Concord: Saturday, March 22 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at NH Citizen’s Alliance, 4 Park St., Unit 304, Concord.

Drop-ins are welcome at both events. You should make sure you bring a few things with you:

  • Social Security number or an ACA Marketplace account number;

  • Employer name and current income for yourself, as well as for anyone else in your household. (You can find this information on a current pay stub or recent W-2 form);

  • If you or anyone else in your household currently has health insurance, you will need information on the insurance, including the current policy number(s).

If you’d like to come in to the SEA/SEIU Local 1984 office for help – or if you just have a question – you can contact Chris Porter, benefit research specialist, at or 271-3411, ext. 134.
