Executive and Judicial Branch Members Can Exercise and Get Reimbursed!

Last week we talked about one way Executive and Judicial Branch members can earn points on their Health Reimbursement Card – participating in a Know Your Numbers clinic. This week, we would like to talk about another way Executive and Judicial branch employees can protect their health and be reimbursed for doing so! You can EXERCISE and receive up to $450 for membership at any of the gyms/clubs that are listed as approved Anthem facilities. The list is sorted by town. Click here to find facilities that are most convenient for you.  All you need to do to get reimbursed by Anthem is join a participating health club and work out a minimum of eight times per calendar month. This benefit applies to only those members who participate in the HMO plan. POS plan participants do not receive this benefit.

So, why bother with exercise? According to the Mayo Clinic exercise:

  • controls weight
  • combats health conditions and diseases
  • improves mood
  • boosts energy
  • promotes better sleep
  • puts the spark back into your romance
  • can be fun

Exercise and physical activity are a great way to feel better, gain health benefits and have fun. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. If you want to lose weight or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more. Remember to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you haven’t exercised for a long time, have chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis, or you have any concerns.
