George Carter, chapter 21, is diabetic and is currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. George is undergoing dialysis treatments three times a week at this point. All of this follows the loss of his fiancé last winter.
And yet, says Evelyn Carter-Smith, George keeps a smile on his face as he pushes the laundry cart around Sununu Youth Services Center. George is a laundry foreman at the facility.
George will be travelling between his home in Manchester to Lebanon frequently during the time leading up to his transplant and after the actual procedure. At this time, we are calling upon members to assist our union brother by donating gas cards to help George defray his gas expenses.
If you would like to donate a card, please send it to SEA/SEIU1984, 207 N. Main St., Concord, NH 03301. Please mark the envelope Attn: George Carter. You may also bring cards to the office.
