Plan to Attend the Inaugural State Employee Appreciation Day
SEA/SEIU 1984 is sponsoring a State Employee Appreciation Day on October 1 on the State House Lawn between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. rain or shine, and all are welcome.
The purpose of the event is to launch a campaign that educates legislators, candidates, and the general public about the many important services that are provided by state workers.
Most NH residents and visitors have no clue as to how many ways their day-to-day lives are dependent on the work done by state employees – from having safe roads to travel to keeping the water supply safe to having waterways stocked with fish for recreation – it’s all predicated on state workers.
There will be an array of educational materials and demos of services provided by employees who are very excited about this opportunity to come together and display the work they do and why it is important to NH. A wide array of departments and programs have committed to participate. They include: Dept. of Fish and Game, Dept. of Transportation, DHHS Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, DHHS Asthma Program, Dept. of Safety, Dept. of Agriculture, DHHS Healthcare-Associated Infections, NH Employment Security, Dept. of Corrections, Dept. of Resources and Economic Development, Dept. of Administrative Services, Dept. of Environmental Services, DHHS Public Health Lab, NH Liquor Commission, Dept. of Banking, NHTI, Operation Santa Claus and SEA/SEIU 1984.
All state employees, legislators, candidates, the media and the general public will be invited to attend. Puppy Love Hot Dogs will have a special $5 box lunch, and the SEA/SEIU 1984 will provide free ice cream.
You can RSVP for the event on Facebook.
