Special Board Election Set at Dec. Council Meeting

There will be a special election to fill two vacant director positions at the 1st Quarterly Council Meeting, set for Thursday, Dec. 11, at the DES/HHS Auditorium, 29 Hazen Drive, Concord.

One is the Director position vacated when Tammy Clark was elected Second Vice President; that is for the remainder of a three-year term, through 2016. The other is the Private Sector Director position, which has been vacant; that is for the remainder of a three-year term, through 2015.

1st Quarterly Council Meeting

NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS FOR THE

FOLLOWING POSITIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED:

 

Director: (one position, remainder three-year term, 2016)

Director: (Private Sector, one position, remainder three-year term, 2015)

In accordance with the SEA Constitution in order to be nominated as a candidate for director or officer a member must have been in good standing for at least one year immediately prior to the election.  Continuing members and Retired members are not eligible to run for these offices.

 

The name of any member seeking election at the December Council Meeting shall not appear on the printed ballot unless a declaration of candidacy has been filed with the Membership Clerk of the Association no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

1. Each candidate for Association Officer or Director of the Association’s Board of Directors shall have an opportunity to inspect a list containing the names and last known addresses of all members of the labor organization. Further, such candidate shall have the right to compare that list with a personal list of members. Such inspection may take place once in the thirty (30) day period prior to the opening of the Association’s convention. (adopted 7/9/09) (amended 8/3/09)

 

2. Upon the receipt of declaration of candidacy for an Association Officer or as a Director of the Board of Directors of the Association, each bona fide candidate shall be sent digitally, a list of all authorized convention delegates along with the last known

home address, home telephone number and home email address of said delegates. The purpose of this policy is to allow the greatest freedom for candidates to campaign for Association office. (adopted 7/9/09) (amended 8/3/09) (amended 9/9/10)

 

3. In the event of an election to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors, candidates requesting a list of council members shall be required to fill out and submit a declaration of candidacy form. (amended 11/12/09)

 

4. Notification: The Association shall send by first class mail Section IX, E of Board Policy to all candidates running for officer or director. Such notice shall be sent within seven (7) calendar days of Association’s receipt of notification of the candidate’s intent to run for office.
