Thanksgiving is the perfect day for all of us to reflect deeply and give thanks for all that we have.
It has always been my favorite holiday because of the message conveyed, and, more recently, I have been grateful that Thanksgiving seems to have evaded the grasp of rampant commercialism. At least it has for the actual day. In many of our families, it is a day to gather, share stories, laugh, cry, and celebrate the gifts in our lives. The pumpkin pie helps a lot, too!
Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a country where so many sacrifice to protect our way of life and to provide services to those in need. The men and women who serve in our Armed Forces, many doctors and nurses, law enforcement and fire protection personnel, just to name a few , serve us every day, under every condition, and make the personal sacrifice so that we can enjoy time with our families.
These contributions come in many shapes, and our union has its share. Our members at Glencliff, NH Hospital, Hampstead Hospital, and Belknap and Strafford Counties Nursing Homes continue to provide loving care regardless of the day of the year. Our members at the NH State Prison, the Coos, Belknap, and Strafford County Jails, along with members of the Littleton, Bedford and Derry Police Departments continue to serve and protect us on Thanksgiving. We also witness incredible acts of kindness by many of our members who vigilantly work behind the scenes at dozens of local organizations to provide important community services throughout the holiday season. I say with tremendous gratitude and pride that the service of our members has a tremendous positive impact on the lives of so many in our great state.
On behalf of our wonderful Board of Directors and dedicated SEA staff, we express our heartfelt gratitude to you, our members, for your service, hard work, and continuing commitment to our union and to the citizens of the great State of New Hampshire.
From the bottom of our hearts, we wish each of you and your families the very best Thanksgiving.
In solidarity and gratitude,
