With just days to go, preparations for the 22nd SEA 5K Road Race and Fitness Walk are nearing the finish line.

The race, which is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, is the second in the Capital Area Race Series. The course runs through the State Office Park East on Hazen Drive in Concord. You can read more about the race here. If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t worry, you can still do so on race day.

SEA/SEIU Local 1984 member Jen Day, the chair of the Road Race Committee, said she’s been busy tying up some loose ends to ensure that things run smoothly on Saturday.

“We always welcome more runners, and you can sign up on race day starting at 8 a.m.,” Day said. “We could definitely use some more volunteers, as well, to help out with things like registration and out on the course.”

If you’d like to volunteer, you can email Day through Friday at jennifer.day@des.nh.gov or you can just show up on Saturday.

Day said the members of the Road Race Committee have done a lot of work to get to this point, especially member Owen David. Chapter 1 member Charlene “Clarkie” Clark will spend Friday with SEA staffers Joe Meagher and Joe Cicirelli gathering road race supplies, including T-shirts, drinks and snacks for runners.

As is usually the case for this early April race, weather could be a factor. Rain is in the forecast, but Day remained sunny about the prospects, choosing to look on the bright side.

“I’m happy to say that the snow banks are decreasing exponentially,” she said. “And the roads are clear and dry, for now.”
