Earlier this year, we alerted you to a Concord Hospital program on diabetes education, with the goal of preventing the disease altogether and for those who’ve been diagnosed, prevent it from getting worse.
In the U.S., 9.3% of the population is living with the chronic disease. In New Hampshire, according to the NH Diabetes Education program, diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death. The good news is the disease can be controlled; what’s needed is proper education.
The 16-week Concord Hospital program runs Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. starting Sept. 16. The program costs $99, but that amount is reimbursable through Anthem’s Community Health Education Reimbursement Program so long as you attend at least 15 of 16 classes. You can register for the program online at concordhospital.org/classes/events/ or by calling 230-7300.
