Special Election Set for Quarterly Council Meeting on June 16
There will be a special election to fill a seat on the SEA/SEIU Local 1984 Board of Directors at the June Quarterly Council Meeting on June 16. The winner will fill the remainder of a three-year term ending in 2018. Three candidates submitted nomination forms before the deadline, however one has since withdrawn. We asked the remaining candidates, Jennifer Hunt and Jose Luna, for a brief introduction. Nominations are accepted from the floor at the council meeting, however any candidates who did not meet the nomination deadline will not have their name printed on the ballot.
Jennifer Hunt, Chapter 39
I began working for the Judicial Branch in June of 2007 and when the Judicial Branch joined the Union in 2008, I became interested in becoming a steward. I am proud to say since then the Judicial Branch has formed Chapter 39, of which, I am in my second term as President. I was on the Judicial Branch bargaining team in 2009 and on this past contract I was our bargaining team chair. We have put our heart and soul into making our Chapter strong. I love my Union and I am proud to be part of this fantastic organization! We are a new Chapter still searching for ways to grow, to use the power of our numbers to make a difference. I would like to give a voice to the members of the Judicial Branch. It is in this type diversity that we as a Union find strength, and to that end I am asking for your vote.
