Gov. Candidate Marchand at SEA on Monday

Former Portsmouth Mayor Meeting with Members at 5 p.m.

Gubernatorial candidate Steve Marchand will be at the SEA/SEIU Local 1984 office at 5 p.m. Monday to meet with the Political Education (Poli Ed) Committee. All members are invited to the meeting with the Democrat, whose previous elected experience includes a stint as mayor of Portsmouth.

Marchand is one of three Democrats running for governor, and is the third to meet with the Poli Ed Committee. Poli Ed is holding these meetings because it is the committee responsible for identifying and recommending a candidate for the union to endorse.

The chair of the Poli Ed Committee, John Hattan, expects this process to continue throughout the summer, which reflects the gravity of this decision. These meetings, along with the upcoming gubernatorial forums, are intended to get the candidates in front of as many members as possible so we can get maximum feedback from members.

If you’d like to get involved in helping decide who SEA/SEIU Local 1984 endorses, you can start by attending Monday’s meeting and reserve your ticket to the gubernatorial forum (see related story).
