This summer, SEA/SEIU Local 1984 has begun giving special recognition to worksites that have reached 100 percent membership.
Last week, President Rich Gulla presented a certificate to the staff at the Powder Mill Fish Hatchery in New Durham, and the proud recipients followed by giving him a tour of the Fish and Game facility.
“This place takes pride in everything we do,” said Kevin Dale, the assistant supervisor at the hatchery. Dale said they’re also proud SEA/SEIU Local 1984 members. “In my opinion, everybody wants to be a member because we’re so well represented.”
Dale has worked at the hatchery since 1998, which is his second stint working for the hatchery. He said he’s proud of the role the hatchery plays, especially when it comes to educating New Hampshire’s youth.
“I feel like I’m giving back to my community,” he said. “Without this, our kids and grandkids wouldn’t see fishing like we did when we were growing up. Every one of these guys will go above and beyond to keep the place nice and inform the public.”
He said that because there are so many state employees, you can sometimes feel like you’re just a number, so the recognition from his union was special.
“For you guys to come here, to be recognized like that, it kind of gives us a sense of accomplishment and it drives our pride up more,” he said.
We’re proud that you’re all members and immensely proud of the work that you do every day. Please join us in congratulating the Powder Mill Fish Hatchery.
