The Department of Corrections continues to find itself in need of qualified candidates to fill a variety of positions across the agency. If you know someone who may be interested, the department is recruiting for both uniformed corrections officer trainees as well as non-uniformed professionals.
“Like a lot of state departments, many DOC staff are getting close to retirement age,” said Justin Jardine, president of Chapter 255. “We need qualified candidates for corrections officer trainees and non-uniform staff. It’s a tough job, but it’s important.”
Corrections Officer Trainees must be at least 20 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. No experience is required, but candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and complete various tests including physical agility, polygraph and background checks.
Available non-uniform positions include but are not limited to: Administrator III-licensed Physical Therapist, Recreational Therapist, Part-time Prison Shop Manager, Teachers, TI College Instructors, Registered Nurses, Corrections Counselor/Case Managers, Maintenance positions, and other career opportunities.
