This Thanksgiving, I will reflect on the many blessings in my life, including the thousands of public workers who dedicate their life to supporting the many services they provide for our state’s residents and visitors. I will think of those who are not able to attend their family celebrations because duty calls regardless of the holiday – those who care for our elderly, our incarcerated, and keep our roadways and communities safe.
Now, more than ever we must strive to achieve tolerance, acceptance of those who are different, compassion and understanding to build a better life for our children and future generations. I call upon corporations and politicians to deliver justice on all fronts for our communities through good jobs with good pay, the most inclusive middle class in our nation’s history, and an economy and democracy where all families and all communities have the chance to thrive. I hope you will join me, as I recommit to these goals.
If your holiday plans include shopping, please consider buying local on Small Business Saturday. It is important to support small business owners and to keep our resources in our own communities.
I wish you all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
