SEA Endorses Frank Emiro in Republican Primary for Governor
Calls on WMUR, Union Leader to Include Emiro in Candidates’ Debate
The State Employees’ Association of New Hampshire has endorsed SEA member Rep. Frank Emiro in the Republican primary for Governor.

The 10,000-member union also called on WMUR and the Union Leader to include Emiro in the upcoming candidates’ debate, sponsored by the two media outlets.

“As of today, these two media outlets are poised to deny Frank the opportunity to participate in their debate. In the public polling done so far in this race, Frank has performed as well – or better – as other candidates who are being allowed to participate,” said SEA President Gary Smith. “Frank isn’t rich, his supporters aren’t rich. But that’s no reason to keep him out of a candidates’ debate.”

“Frank has been investing shoeleather in this race,” said Political Education Committee Chairman Ken Roos. “He has been out meeting voters, one-on-one, and has participated in every other candidates’ forum held so far in this race. His campaign isn’t about consultants and ‘messaging’, it’s about meeting real people and getting the job done. We hope the Union Leader and WMUR will reconsider and allow Frank to be part of their debate.”

“As a retired state worker, Frank knows state government from the inside out – literally,” Roos said. “Frank knows about long nights in the dead of winter keeping our streets safe to drive. He’s seen the effects of bad management, and the good things that happen when management and employees work together. For Frank, it’s not about making headlines, or union versus management, or abstract political ideologies. It’s about getting the job done. That’s what he did, working for the Department of Transportation – and that’s who Frank is. We are proud to endorse him in the Republican primary.”

“Candidates’ debates are supposed to be fair,” Smith said. “The media isn’t supposed to favor one candidate over another, and give airtime only to the anointed few. The voters should be the ones deciding who is qualified to be Governor of the State of New Hampshire – not the media. The Union Leader and WMUR are providing an opportunity for other candidates to air their views and try to persuade people to vote for them. Frank should be given that same opportunity.”

The Union Leader/WMUR candidates’ debate is scheduled to air live on Friday, September 10 between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
