STATE EMPLOYEES’ ASSOCIATION OF NH, SEIU LOCAL 1984
3rd Quarterly Council Meeting
Thursday, June 17, 2010

NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED: 
  • Director  (County and Municipal, one position, remainder of three-year term, 2012) 
    • Director  (Private Sector, one position, remainder three-year term, 2012)

In accordance with the SEA Constitution in order to be nominated as a candidate for director or officer a member must have been in good standing for at least one year immediately prior to the election. Associate members, continuing members, and retired members are not eligible to run for these offices.

The name of any member seeking election at the June Council Meeting shall not appear on the printed ballot unless a declaration of candidacy has been filed with the Membership Clerk of the Association no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, June 4, 2010.  Nomination forms are available here.

A. Candidates for Union Office: (adopted 9/11/08)

1. Each candidate for Association Officer or Director of the Association’s Board of Directors shall have an opportunity to inspect a list containing the names and last known addresses of all members of the labor organization. Further, such candidate shall have the right to compare that list with a personal list of members. Such inspection may take place once in the thirty (30) day period prior to the opening of the Association’s convention.

2. Upon the receipt of declaration of candidacy for an Association Officer or as a Director of the Board of Directors of the Association, each bona fide candidate shall be sent via US Mail, or permitted to pick up at the SEA/SEIU Local 1984 headquarters, a list of all authorized convention delegates along with the last known home address and home telephone number of said delegates. The purpose of this policy is to allow the greatest freedom for candidates to campaign for Association office.

3. In the event of an election to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors, candidates requesting a list of council members shall be required to fill out and submit a declaration of candidacy form.

4. General: The Association shall send to the Association’s delegates, by first class mail, campaign material of any candidate for officer or director of the Association’s Board of Directors if so requested by the candidate. The campaign material shall be delivered to the Association in stuffed, sealed and stamped envelopes, and shall be mailed to the delegates as soon as is practicable. The costs of supplies, including envelopes and postage, shall be borne by the candidate and shall be paid to the Association prior to mailing of campaign materials. Association staff time in mailing the campaign materials shall be borne by the Association.
