2009 NNEC-SEIU Worksite Leadership Academy
A three-day leadership development program
for rank and file union membersMarch 26-28, 2009
The Hanover Inn
Hanover, NHSponsored by the SEIU Northern New England Council, the Worksite Leadership Academy (WLA) is a comprehensive education program for newly-emerging union leaders. We focus on improving our skills as leaders, deepening our understanding of working people’s issues, and developing our ability to build strength and activism at work.
This requires a commitment for all three days: from noon Thursday through 1:00 pm on Saturday.
The WLA is for you if you have participated in activities like these:• Attended actions or rallies
• Turned out members to meetings or events
• Participated in union education or training
• Volunteered for a committee and completed tasks that activated other members
Bringing together members from many unions, we:
• Energize ourselves through interacting with activists from other unions
• Build solidarity across state lines
• Exchange effective strategies
To ensure an effective educational environment, total enrollment is limited to approximately 20-25 members.Participants’ rooms, meals, and workshop costs are paid by their unions. During the workshops, meals will be provided at the Hanover Inn. Group dinners will take place at restaurants a short distance from the Inn at 6:00 pm on Thursday and Friday evenings.
