Joan Dolloff Scholarship Available: Early February
Deadline: SEA dependents/traditional students must submit application by April 15, 2010

Criteria: Must be pursing a degree in the healthcare field. Must have a letter confirming membership and date joined.

Criteria: Must attend a college or university, a community college, or a technical college or trade school. Must complete a 500 word essay, a verification of union membership form, one letter of reference, and the application.
Open To: Union members, spouses and their children
Eligibility: One year continuous union membership satisfied as of May 31, 2010. Acceptance into an accredited college, university, community college, technical or trade school at time of award. Also open to Graduate students.
Evaluation: Applicants for scholarships are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor.
Amount: One-Time award of anywhere from $500 - $4,000

Service Employees’ International Union - Lottery Scholarships These two scholarships are done by a drawing of qualified applicants. All applicants must read "Yes We Did and Yes We Will - 2008 in the "SEIU 2008 Annual Report.” They must then correctly answer all questions on the SEIU Scholarship Application Form to qualify for the lottery drawing selection process. The annual report is available at http://www.seiu.org/ourunion/Annual_Report_08.indd.pdf.
Amount: $1,000 annually for up to four years (15 available throughout the country)
Eligibility: High School Graduate or GED Certificate by August 2009
Freshman enrolled in full-time 4-year college or university
Amount: $1,500 one-time non-renewable awards (33 available throughout the country)
Eligibility: Returning full-time student to an accredited college or university as a sophomore, junior, or senior in fall of 2009
Service Employees’ International Union – Competitive Scholarships All applications must include academic records, an essay, and a personal statement. Moe Foner applicants must also include art work.
Moe Foner Scholarship Amount: $5,000 one-time award
Eligibility: Pursuing a degree or training full-time in the visual or performing arts. Funding must be applied to tuition at a two or four year college university, or accredited community, technical, or trade school in an arts-related field.
Jesse Jackson Scholarship Amount: $5,000 renewable for up to 4 years
Eligibility: Pursuing a degree in social or economic justice. Agreement to participate in some paid or course credit internship or work experience in social change during the four years you receive the scholarship. Must apply money toward tuition at a two or four year accredited college, university, or community college.
John Geagan Scholarship Amount: $5,000 to expend over a 24-month period ($2,500/year)
Eligibility: Pursuing a labor studies degree in a 2 or 4 year institution, labor studies center, certificate or online program (an institution where college credit is awarded toward a bachelor or associate degree in Labor Studies). Priority will be given to applicants not served by traditional education institutions.
Nora Piore Scholarship Amount: $4,000 - renewable up to two years
Eligibility: Open to any member or their child wishing to pursue education or training in the healthcare field.
