Dues and Fees

Union Dues
The union dues rate is 1.25% of base pay, which is about one hour's pay every two weeks. There is a maximum dues amount which can vary from pay scale to pay scale.

Unlike most other unions, SEIU Local 1984, the State Employees' Association of New Hampshire, does not charge an initiation fee.

All decisions regarding dues are made at the union's annual convention, attended by union members elected through their Chapters to represent the members of that Chapter.

Agency Fee
You may choose not to become a member of the union. In such a case, you may be required to pay an agency fee for the cost of negotiating and administering the collective bargaining agreement. This fee is your fair share of sustaining the union’s broad range of programs in support of you and your co-workers. If you choose to be a non-member, you would not have the right to vote on the terms of your contract, the right to nominate and vote for officers of the union, or the right to numerous members-only benefits and discounts.

SEIU Local 1984, State Employees’ Association of New Hampshire Political Action Committee (SEAPAC)
By law and by our practice, there is no use of union dues or agency fee monies for political advertising or other such activities.

SEAPAC is a voluntary program for members to contribute to supporting the union's political program. SEAPAC funds are used for political purposes, including but not limited to making contributions and expenditures for candidates for federal, state and local offices and addressing political issues of importance to our members. The making of these voluntary contributions are in addition to and entirely separate from union dues or agency fees, and are not a condition of membership in the union or of employment with your employer, and is strictly voluntary.

Political endorsements are made through democratic process within the union, and are made on the basis of candidates' support for issues important to our members - regardless of any candidate's political affiliation.
