What happens next?
If you’re ready to see improvements for Adjunct Professors at CCSNH, simply sign the Authorization Form you should've received in the mail and send it to SEA. This says that you wish to have a union. Soon, you will have the opportunity to have your voice heard on your priorities for change at CCSNH.
SEIU supports and fights for increased investment in community colleges and to improve access to training and education opportunities for working people. SEIU has worked with the Administration to win:
- More than $3.5 billion in student financial assistance, in the form of Pell Grants, to low-income students at hundreds of community colleges across the nation.
- $2 billion over four years to fund the Community College and Career Training initiative which helps low-skilled, unemployed workers get education and training to improve skills.
- Over $1 billion in workforce training programs at community colleges - preparing students to work in cutting-edge clean energy industries, training future medical professionals in new health information technology, and providing education and training to dislocated workers.
- $40 million in Work Study funds to help community college students pay for their education through employment.
- In October, the administration announced three public-private partnerships to further invest in community colleges to inspire excellence, increase graduation rates, and improve the skills of American workers.
Signing an authorization form is the first step toward having our own union and making a positive change in the CCSNH. SEIU supports our nation's community college system and the faculty and students who make them work.
